A long, easy-going peninsula route

The Bellarine Rail Trail links Geelong and Queenscliff along the former railway alignment. It is a 35-kilometre route for bikes and walkers, passing rolling country, vineyards, farmland and wetlands before reaching the coast.

Choose a section that suits the day

Start at South Geelong Train Station for the full journey, or plan a shorter outing from Drysdale or Queenscliff. The route is mostly flat; the Drysdale-to-Queenscliff section is gravel and has some gradual climbs. Toilets and shelter are available at Drysdale Railway Station, Suma Park and in Queenscliff.

Plan your ride or walk

Carry water and sun protection, especially on the more open stretches. Spring is a good time to look for wildflowers; the wetlands around Swan Bay are also a rewarding place to pause and watch for birdlife. Check current conditions before leaving and allow time to return or arrange transport at the far end.
